About the Event

Is the race going to be held down at Echodale Park again?
Yes. The decision was made to move the event down to Echodale Park after the 2013 flooding. Now that we have commited to the change in venue, we are coming to realize what a treasure Medicine Hat has in the Echodale Park.
Do I have to actually run?
No. You can run or walk, 5k or 3k. Walking is not recommended for the 10k.
Can I ride my bike or inline skates?
No. For safety reasons, inline skates, bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not permitted at the event. Strollers and/or wagons are welcome!
Where does the money raised for Bustin' Loose go?
The funds raised go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information about the Foundation, its work, and where the money goes in your region, visit www.cbcf.org.

Registration

How do I register for the Bustin' Loose Race to End Breast Cancer?
The easiest way to register is online. Your confirmation will be sent via email.
Where do I find my online registration confirmation?
Proof of registration can be provided in the following ways:
  • Email confirmation
  • Print out of personal fundraising page online - showing funds raised
  • Print out of homepage in your participant centre with the button that states 'Registration Paid' (note: once your registration fee has been paid, the registration button will be blacked out to show it is complete)
Can I register offline?
You may register via regular mail by downloading the registration form; or you may register in person during Race Package Pickup, but Last Minute Registration Fees will apply.
May I use my username and password from from last year to register online for this year?
Yes please! We encourage you to use the same username and password year after year.
May I fax my registration form?
No, we are not able to accept faxed registration forms.
How much is the participation fee?

How do I qualify to have my participation fee waived?
Online: If you select "waive participation fee" during the registration process, your participation fee will be automatically waived once your online total is over $100.00.

By mail or In person: During Race Package Pick-up and Pledge Drop-off, present your pledges totaling more than $100.00 at the registration table to have your participation fee waived.
Where can I pay my participant fee?
You have 3 payment options. First, participant fees can be paid online during the registration process. Second, if you plan to mail your registration, you may send a cheque with your registration form (Cheque should be made payable to "Bustin' Loose Race to End Breast Cancer"). Third, you can pay the fee in person on event day at the registration table. Registration fees cannot be refunded after payment.
Where do I get my Race Package?
Race Packages (including t-shirts) can be collected at the designated Race Package Pick-up and Pledge Drop-off times listed here. If you are part of a team, your team captain will pick up your Race Packages prior to the event and distribute them to all team members.
I registered as an individual, but now want to participate on an existing team or form my own team. How can I do this?

Pledge System & Donations

What is my personal donation page?
An online webpage that highlights an individual participant. Participants are able to customize content and images on their personal donation page from the Participant Centre.
May I use my username and password from previous years to register this year?
Yes please! We encourage you to use the same username and password year after year.
Will the website have my previous donor information and email addresses from last year?
Yes. If you register with your previous username, all your donor information will be available in your Participant Centre.
What is my Participant Centre?
The Participant Centre is an online tool that can be accessed by individual and team participants following online registration. It contains tools for emailing friends and family, tracking online donations, tracking team status, and much, much more. Participants must be registered online and logged into the website for access.
Is there a limit to the number of emails that I can send from my Participant Centre to my family, friends and team members?
No, there is no limit to the number of emails that can be sent from the Participant Centre.
What is the maximum file size for a photo?
Photos can be up to 2.5 MB and will be resized to 300 by 400 pixels.
Can I upload a video from a source other than YouTube on my personal donation page?
YouTube is the most widely accessed and viewed site for video information and has been selected as the only source.
How do I submit in-person donations not paid online?
You can submit your in-person donations 2 ways:
Do I have to collect the donations from the people who have agreed to sponsor me?
Yes. You are responsible for collecting the donations. If you are registered online, it's simple and secure for your supporters to donate on your behalf. If you register offline, you can collect your donations and mail them.
When will tax receipts be issued for donations of $20 or more?
Donate online and you'll get an electronic tax receipt within 30 minutes. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will issue tax receipts for offline donations in February - in plenty of time to claim the deduction on your income tax return.
May I make a donation if I am not participating in the event?
Absolutely! Donations can be made in a few ways.
I have lost my original tax receipt and require a duplicate. What do I do?
For tax receipt inquires, requests for replacements, and/or corrections contact: connect@cbcf.org.
I made an online donation and I cannot open my tax receipt. Why is this?
Electronic tax receipts are sent in PDF format. If you currently do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you will not be able to open the attachment. Download Adobe Reader. For a replacement tax receipts, requests for reprints, and/or corrections please contact: connect@cbcf.org
Do I get a tax receipt for paying my participation fee?
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is not able to issue a tax receipt or refund the participation fee according to CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency) guidelines.
How long is the tax receipt valid for?
According to CRA guidelines, you have up to 5 years from the date of issue to include this on your tax return.
Do my tax receipts come from Bustin' Loose Race to End Breast Cancer?
No. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation issues all tax receipts.
